School Improvement Plan

This year we’re focusing on ELA & Math growth, recognizing students with Tiger Paws & monthly awards, and bringing back fun events like the Jog-A-Thon, Book Fair, Wreath Sales, and (pending approval) STEM Nights. PTO is also planning one field trip per grade level.

We’re excited to introduce this year’s amazing PTO team at Garden Heights Elementary:

Our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) plays a HUGE role in making school extra special for our Tigers! 🐾 They:

❤️ Organize fun family events and activities
📚 Support teachers and classrooms with supplies and resources
🎨 Help fund field trips, assemblies, and special projects
🍿 Bring us favorite traditions like Popcorn Fridays & the Jog-a-Thon

These incredible parents volunteer their time and energy to help build a strong school community where students, families, and staff all feel connected. 💕

Be on the lookout for upcoming PTO events and ways you can get involved this year—it’s a great way to support our Tigers and make new friends along the way! 🐯✨

First Grade Farm Day

🐮 Farm Day is BACK! 🐓🚜

Our First Graders are headed to the Fairgrounds on October 8th for one of our favorite traditions—Farm Day! 🌾

Students will have the chance to:
✨ Meet real farm animals up close—cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, and more!
✨ Learn where food comes from and how farms work
✨ Enjoy hands-on experiences that make learning come alive

 

Jogathon Kick-Off Assembly

Jogathon is Almost Here! 🏃🐾

On October 9th, our students will gather for the Jogathon Kick-Off Assembly! At this event:
✨ Students will bring home their sponsorship packets and fundraising instructions.
✨ We’ll announce the winner of the T-shirt Design Contest!

We’re excited to get our Tigers moving and can’t wait to kick off this year’s Jogathon together!

2nd & 3rd Grade Palmer's Adventure

Get ready for Fall Fun! 🍂🎃

On Thursday, October 16th, our 2nd and 3rd grade classes will be heading out on an exciting field trip to Palmer’s Adventure Farm (formerly StrawBelly’s Farm Festival)!

Students will enjoy a morning packed with fall fun— pumpkin patch picking, tasty food, family-friendly activities, photo ops, and so much more! 
👉 The cost is $10 per student.
👉 Be sure to check your student’s backpack for a permission slip and return it, along with payment, to their teacher right away so they don’t miss out!

We’re excited to share that PTO will be providing FREE popcorn for all students once a month! 🙌

Kinder Pumpkin Patch Visit

Kindergarten Families! 🎃🍂

Get ready for some fall fun! On Thursday, October 17th, our kindergarteners will be heading over to the high school pumpkin patch for a special field trip. Each student will get to pick out their very own pumpkin to take home!
 

Jogathon - October 24th

🎉🏃‍♂️ Jog-A-Thon is Almost Here! 🏃‍♀️🎉

Mark your calendars—our Kickoff Assembly is October 9th!

Students will bring home all the details and pledge packets that day.

Then on October 24th, the whole school will come together for our 27th Annual Jog-A-Thon—a fun-filled day of school spirit, music, and laps around the track!

🌟 Every dollar raised helps support Garden Heights PTO programs—like playground equipment, student activities, special events, and more!

 

🧡 Unity Day – October 22nd 🧡

Join us in taking a stand against bullying!

Wear ORANGE on October 22 to show your support.

Together, we are STRONGER 💪 and UNITED against bullying. More information will be shared by Ms. McCarthy soon!

📢 We Could Use Your Help, Families!

Clothing Donations

Accidents happen—especially when kids are busy having fun! Our health room is running low on extra underwear and pants for our little Tigers.

🩲 We’re especially in need of boys’ underwear (all sizes)
👖 Elastic-waist pants for younger students are also a big help

Donations can be brand new or gently used (we’ll bleach/wash before use).
✨ Having these items on hand means fewer calls home and smoother days for families. Thank you for always supporting our students—we appreciate you!
